VIC circuit

With these chokes, this cell and this drive, where does the loop ring, what does the drive draw, and does the cell step-charge?

Loading a circuit fills the slots; change any of them afterwards and the result is your variation on it. All saved circuits.

The parts

The water capacitor, or a plain capacitor standing in for one.

What is in the cell. Sets the permittivity and, through its dissolved solids, the leak.

The choke on the positive side, through which the cell charges.

What the charging choke is wound on. Needed unless the choke is recorded with its inductance.

The choke on the return side.

What the blocking choke is wound on.

Between the drive and the chokes, if there is one. The drive amplitude is stepped up through it. About this part.

The drive

kHz

The pulse frequency the loop is driven at.

V

The peak voltage applied across the loop — after the transformer, if there is one.

%

How much of each pulse period the drive is on.

Hz

The slow gate switching the pulse train on and off.

%

How much of each gate period the pulses are let through.

Separate, or on one core with fields aiding or opposing.

How much of one choke's flux threads the other. Zero for separate cores.

From the parts

Every number handed to the simulation that you did not type, and where it came from. Each derivation that ran a calculation links to that calculation's page with these numbers in, so it can be checked alone.

Before it can run

  • Choose the charging choke.
  • Choose the blocking choke.
  • Choose the cell.
  • R Series resistance 100 Ω

No resistance recorded on any part; 100 Ω assumed.

  • Cell leak resistance 500 kΩ

Leak resistance assumed at 500 kΩ: no cell chosen. Open the bare-numbers page to set it yourself.

  • V Drive amplitude 60 V

The drive amplitude of 12 V stepped up through Forward Mode 1:5 Step-Up (100:500). The 1 A primary current given to the ratio calculation is for its current figures only; the voltage ratio does not depend on it.

    Transformer step-up to the cell

  • No water chosen, so the cell is taken as full of distilled water at 20 °C. Pick a water to change that.
