Stan’s Legacy The Stanley Meyer Archive

Marc Vancraeyenest

2 October 2026

Marc Vancraeyenest was the second Belgian at the table on Friday 20 March 1998. In the newspapers, and in Stephen Meyer's telling, the two men at dinner with Stan were "two Belgian investors". By Philippe Vandemoortele's account, Vancraeyenest was not an investor at all. He has never spoken about that evening in public. What follows is what the record shows about him.

Who he is

He is a Belgian engineer and inventor, born in 1956 in Waregem, West Flanders. The 2004 company deed spells his name Vancraeynest. Every later filing, and every patent, spells it Vancraeyenest, and that is the spelling used here. Letec's publicity later called him an "internationally recognized Biophysicist Dr. Marc Vancraeyenest". The archive has not found where the doctorate comes from, and readers of the Dutch sceptics' site asked the same question in 2014.

The weekend

Vandemoortele organised the visit to Grove City for the inauguration of the Development Center, due on Saturday 21 March 1998, arriving on Friday the 20th and leaving on Sunday the 22nd. "I had taken Marc Vancraeyenest with me, at Stan's request, to improve our communication via computers. Marc Vancraeyenest had nothing to do with the project."

So he was in Grove City for two days, as the man who would set up the computers, and he was at the Cracker Barrel when Stan took a sip of his drink, ran outside, told his brother "They poisoned me", and was taken to hospital. Stan died the next day.

Everything later said about "the Belgians" includes him: the coroner's office had them described as "NATO officials"; a YouTube video, since gone, named them as Stan's killers; and there was the rumour that they fled the country that night. The police file held no recorded interview with either man. The Columbus Dispatch's calls and e-mails to both in 2007 went unanswered. He flew home on the Sunday with Vandemoortele, on the flight already booked. The full account is on The day Stan died.

Letec, 2004 to 2023

Six years later, the man brought along for the computers became Vandemoortele's equal partner.

  • 27 February 2004. He and Vandemoortele found Letec NV before a Kortrijk notary, 100 shares each and €200,000 of capital, to research and sell "light therapy, bioresonance, biofeedback, biophysics and cell research". He signs by proxy.
  • 4 March 2004. He becomes the director in charge of day-to-day management.
  • 18 November 2009. He is reappointed and made a managing director alongside Vandemoortele.
  • 16 March 2011. He turns a €2.4 million subordinated loan to the company into shares, matching Vandemoortele's.
  • 2014. He contributes his shares in Lergon NV, a sister company at the same Bruges address.
  • 8 March 2019. The company, renamed Healtech in 2017 and seated at Oostkamp, is declared bankrupt. The bankruptcy closes on 17 April 2023.

The product was the Xentix, light and pulsed magnetic fields marketed against burn-out. An Amsterdam trial paid for by Letec's Dutch company found that it made no difference (BMC Public Health, 2017).

The patents

He is the sole named inventor of the whole 2004 family: BE 1016013, WO 2005/107866, EP 1744811, US 7,744,522 (granted 29 June 2010) and JP 4572233. The claims are for "a system for influencing a biological cellular structure" with light sources and a pulsing magnetic field. No coil in them is bifilar.

The 2010 application US 2012/0078328, filed with Vandemoortele and an American co-inventor, adds a "Tri-Wind Magnetic Coil Assembly" wound with bifilar wire, the winding of Stan's resonant charging chokes. It is the one point where the later work of the two men touches Stan's. Whether that is inheritance or coincidence, the record does not say. The full table is on The day Stan died.

What is still open

Of the four people at the table, he is the only one who has never given any account of the evening. Stephen told his many times, and Vandemoortele wrote his once, in 2020. The archive has no statement from Vancraeyenest, and doesn't know whether anyone has ever asked him for one.
