The Columbus Dispatch had him born and raised on Columbus's East Side before the family moved to Grandview Heights, where he finished high school. The street on the East Side was Livingston Avenue, and the school was Grandview Heights High; neither is in the Dispatch, and both come from the family and from people who knew them. Livingston runs for miles and the house number is not recorded here, so the map pins the avenue rather than a door. The certificate gives only "Ohio" for the birthplace, as Ohio's certified abstracts do; the full record, with the city and hospital, is the original filed in 1940. The stamp says what it says: the copy was requested fifteen years after his death.
His twin, Stephen Foster Meyer, was born the same day; he tells the story of the shared birthday in the second of his 2007 interviews.
