Water, with chemical additives and metallic salts therein, is injected into an internal combustion engine, such as for automobiles, to reduce production of car bon monoxide and by reducing the amounts of oxides of nitrogen. Metallic salts may be added to tap water by use of an electrolysis cell connected to the engine's battery or alternator.
