What was shown

In 1988 Stan Meyer drew a water-powered race car for the Indy 500: Figure 7, Indy "500" Car, with the Water Fuel Cell, its control unit, the gas processor and the resonant cavity drawn into an open-wheeler. He told the Grove City Record he had located a car and a source for three 12,000 RPM Buick V-8s to convert. His safety case: there is no tank of hydrogen, the gas is made on demand, and a crash "jar switch" de-energizes the cell, so a ruptured fuel cell spills only water. No water car ever started the Indy 500; by one account the people at the top didn't like the idea. The drawing and the articles are on stanslegacy.com.

About the voices. The narrator is NeuralStan, an AI voice the archive uses for its made films. Where you hear Stan Meyer, it is Stan: every word of his is cut from an original recording, and nothing he says was synthesised.
