A reader wrote to say her late husband did side jobs in New York for Meyer, and that she remembers him talking about the car that ran on water. That is the whole of it: the account is second hand, it says "NY" without saying where, and it does not say that Meyer was ever there himself rather than sending work out. The archive holds nothing else — no letter, no invoice, no photograph, and no mention of the family name anywhere in its documents, photographs or messages. One thing this pin is not: the archive's only other New York material is a sum, not a journey. Meyer told Colorado Springs in 1991 that a run from Los Angeles to New York would take about twenty-two gallons of water, and Don Gabel was asked about it directly in 2008. "That vehicle has never left Ohio… He never drove it. He said he calculated."
