10.3 Ω confirmed intact in circuit, so the ms tail across it with the loop open is a measurement-chain artifact. Across the open pot gap (probe ~2 MΩ only): each pulse rises to ~85 V with ringing and returns to ~0 in the off-time; no visible staircase at

  • Scotchn, Discord #neuralstan20-testing 2026-09-30. DMM in circuit across the probe-tip points: 10.3 Ω, intact. Combined with #3466 (tail unchanged with the loop open), the ~2 V, ms-long tail seen across the resistor cannot be I·R. It is a probe/channel artifact (probe swap still to confirm).
  • New capture — CH1 100X diff across the OPEN pot gap (loaded only by the probe, ~2 MΩ per Scotchn), 20 V/div, offset −15.2 V, trigger CH3; C_t out. Each of the 10 pulses: a sharp rise, then dense ringing between ~15 and ~85 V during the on-time (a few hundred kHz, rough read from the photo), then back to ~0 V for the off-time. No negative flyback excursion is visible in the off-time. No staircase build-up is visible across the burst. Caveat: a ~2 V staircase would be only ~0.1 div at 20 V/div. The baseline after the burst may sit a couple of volts below the pre-burst level (photo read, uncertain). CH2 3.68 Vpp (not connected meaningfully), CH3 53.2 mV.
  • Interpretation (provisional) — no large charge pump onto the open-gap parasitics is visible at this scale. The off-time at ~0 with no reverse swing is consistent with the diode blocking the reverse (flyback) half.
  • NEXT — (1) swap differential probes on the 10.3 Ω to confirm the artifact; (2) the "does the diode block" test proper: same probe on the open gap, diode in vs diode jumpered, same scale. The difference is what the diode blocks. To look for a small staircase, use a finer V/div on the off-time baseline, but beware front-end overdrive/clipping artifacts.
