Burn-Rate is measured as flame travel distance per one second after ignition
The expanding Gas-Flame travels the linear length of the gas-filled tube (C) away from the spark-igniter, and is detected and measured as the length between spark-igniter and light-detector in one second after gas-ignition; this establishes the Burn-Rate in centimeters per second (cm/sec.), as illustrated in Figure (2-2).
