The primary coil of the toroid is subjected to a 50% duty cycle pulse and provides a voltage step-up in excess of five times; the stepped-up pulse enters a first inductor (100 turns of 24 gauge wire, 1 inch diameter) whose collapsing field upon pulse termination produces a second same-polarity pulse, yielding a doubled pulse frequency.
