Scotchn midpoint-diode bifilar: one turn-off yields ~6 forward packets via A–B capacitive return; diode itself blocks cleanly (validates interwinding-C as source of extra forward pulses)
- Bench — Scotchn, Discord #neuralstan20-testing 2026-10-05 (Rigol photos, two captures). Topology: single wire pair, bifilar wound, series-connected through the SiC 1200 V diode at the midpoint (A finish -> diode -> B start); cap (3.97 nF per his build notes) across the outer ends. Channels assumed: CH1 across diode (200 V/div), CH2 across cap (50 V/div in 2nd capture), CH3 unconfirmed.
- Observed (read from angled photos, rough) — one turn-off edge produces ~6 forward diode conduction lobes (Scotchn counts 5-6), spacing ~3.3 us stretching to ~5-6 us (~300 kHz chirping toward ~200 kHz). Cap voltage climbs in near-vertical steps, one per lobe, from about -100 V to >290 V (clipped), peaks ~192 us, then falls linearly ~9 V/us back through zero to ~-100 V by ~235 us. i = C dV/dt ~ 36 mA return.
- Interpretation (agreed with Scotchn) — the diode blocks cleanly; the return is capacitive, around the diode via the A–B interwinding capacitance. Fast tank ~ A–B C against leakage L: with 1.18 nF (value measured on the 9/29 coil; confirm for this coil) 300 kHz implies ~0.24 mH leakage. Scotchn's purpose: validate that interwinding capacitance supplies the second forward pulse (double pulse) — here it produces 6 because the midpoint placement lets it ring freely.
- Pending — (1) add 1 nF film across A–B, expect ring ~300 -> ~220 kHz (f ~ 1/sqrt(C)) and larger packets; (2) diode back in proper VIC position (secondary -> diode -> positive choke), expect 1-2 forward packets and a held cap voltage; (3) LCR the A–B capacitance of this coil.
