Series resonant charging choke-coils (9 and 12) act as current limiters and enable step-charging

Modulator inductor coils (9 and 12), made of resistive wire, act as DC current limiters during initial fuel cell charging; the low-Q resonant charging circuit of the fuel cell (10, 11) in series with choke-coils (9, 12) stores electrical energy across successive DC pulses, producing a step-charging voltage effect across the fuel cell (illustrated in Figs 9BB and 16A).
