Ungapped nanocrystalline power core is wrong for a unipolar resonant charging choke: DC bias through the blocking diode walks flux to saturation (Scotchn, confirmed by his core tests)

Scotchn (Discord #neuralstan20-testing, 2026-09-25) wound an earlier choke on a nanocrystalline core before characterising it. He later found it completely wrong for the job. He confirmed the diagnosis: it is a POWER core, meant for bipolar-flux transformer duty. Mechanism: resonant charging through the blocking diode carries unipolar current, so there is a DC bias and no flux reset. High permeability means few ampere-turns reach saturation, and high remanence leaves no recovery between pulses. The inductance collapses and the current spikes. RULE for builders: VIC resonant charging chokes (56/62) need a core rated for DC bias: gapped or cut nanocrystalline or ferrite, powder cores, or air core. An ungapped nanocrystalline toroid suits common-mode or bipolar transformer use only. His test data is in the spreadsheet "Ten_Turn_Core_Testing_with_Report_v2.xlsx" (not ingested; requested as CSV or image).
