Meyer at Denver

Meyer had two sessions, and the programme dates both. The Friday evening workshops, 7:00 to 8:45 p.m., list four speakers for the one slot of an hour and three quarters, so they ran side by side in separate rooms rather than one after another. On Sunday he had the 2:30 slot with Stover and Brown.

The evening workshop tape. The archive holds a tape of Meyer introduced for "this evening's workshop", in a file titled for a 1993 symposium in Colorado, with nothing in it naming the place or the date: the whole tape. Denver on Friday 16 April 1993 is the only evening workshop in Colorado that year the archive knows of, and the tape runs 98 minutes, which fits a slot of 105. That is a strong match, not a proof: the tape itself would settle it only if a recording of the Sunday session, or the symposium's own videotapes, turned up to compare. The Institute for New Energy sold "an informative and recommended videotape of his 1993 ISNE presentation", according to Bailey and Grotz that October.

The paper. Meyer's paper in the proceedings, "Atomic Energy Balance of Water … Using Water as Fuel", is pages 389 to 407, with ten figures; Fusion Facts abstracted it in May 1993, and its text matches WFC 424. Gary Johnson, who later wrote to New Energy News about the Water Fuel Cell papers, heard Meyer speak here (his letter).

Who else was in the room. The list is a good census of Meyer's world in 1993: Patrick Bailey and Toby Grotz, whose IECEC review that August put him on its short list; Moray King; Harold Aspden, who would report the cancelled House of Lords meeting three years later; Peter Graneau, whose water-arc explosions Meyer cited as confirmation; Roy McAlister; John Bockris; and Andrew Michrowski, who spoke next to Meyer again at the 1997 symposium (the 1997 proceedings).
